MoodGenius is committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains how we collect, use, and safeguard your information.
Information we collect
Account information. When you create an account, we collect your email address, display name, and an encrypted password.
Mood data. Mood ratings, journal notes, and influencing factors you log within the app. This data is stored in your personal account and is not shared with other users.
Health data. With your explicit permission, we access health metrics from Apple HealthKit including sleep duration, step count, heart rate, heart rate variability, and active minutes. This data is read from your device and used solely to provide personalized insights.
Usage data. We may collect anonymous usage analytics to improve the app. This does not include your mood entries or health data.
How we use your information
- To provide personalized mood and health insights.
- To generate AI-powered recommendations based on your patterns.
- To sync your data across your devices.
- To send daily mood logging reminders (if enabled).
- To improve the app experience.
AI processing
We use third-party AI services to generate personalized explanations of your health metrics. We send only the metric name, value, and status (e.g., "Sleep: 7.2h, in healthy range"). We do not send your name, email, journal notes, or other personally identifiable information to AI providers.
Data storage and security
Your data is stored securely using Google Firebase with encryption in transit and at rest. We do not sell or share your personal data with third parties for advertising purposes.
HealthKit data
MoodGenius accesses Apple HealthKit data solely to provide health-mood correlation insights. HealthKit data is never used for advertising, shared with third parties, or sold.
Your rights
- Access. You can view all your stored data within the app.
- Deletion. You can request account deletion by contacting us.
- Opt-out. You can disconnect Apple Health at any time from Settings.
Data retention
We retain your data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, all associated data will be permanently removed within 30 days.
Children's privacy
MoodGenius is not intended for users under 13 years of age.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes through the app or by email.
